When we started, we had couple of tools and a broom stick. We fixed a washroom tile as our first job. After completing the job, we recommended the home owner to keep a small bucket of grout with them and showed them how to fix a loose tile. The home owner asked us why would we would explain to them the grouting method and loose the opportunity of another call back. We replied that our objective was not to make money. Our objective was to build a business relationship. Business relationship involves making the customer more knowledgeable about their own property so that they can make sustainable decisions on prospective upgrades and maintenance. The home owners became our friends and we still manage their house and other business properties.
Till date, our business model is to educate the customer, residential or commercial. Passing of the knowledge builds the trust between us and the customer and allows us to be friends with them, rather than be just contractors.
